As well as the wonderful countryside around, Krabi Town itself has lots to keep you interested.

There are many shops selling everything you could imagine, from modern supermarkets and department stores like Vogue on Maharaj Road, to smaller specialist shops selling clothes, electronics or handicrafts and souvenirs. You should also wake up early one morning and visit the colourful local market between Phruksauthit Road and Maharaj Road, where every day the stalls are pilled high with all the fresh produce the sea and countryside around Krabi can produce. It is a real pleasure to wander among the stalls, sampling the different and often unusual tastes and smells but go early to see all the wares piled at their highest and to feel the manic energy of this place, by 10 O'Clock it has begun to slow down, the day's dealing done. There are also two popular night markets one on Maharaj Soi 8 just around the corner from Thaimit Tours and the other on the river front at Khongkha Road. These are the best places to sample many sweet and strange new fruits including the (in)famous Durian or practice your new language skills ordering tasty and cheap Thai dishes, deserts and drinks .

Food is taken seriously in Thailand and like any Cosmopolitan town Krabi has a wide choice of eating options. For more Thai food and drinks visit any of the many local restaurants, cafes and coffee shops which cater for both the Northern and the very spicy Southern Thai appetites. There are also many restaurants where the food is more international. For real Italian Pizza and Pasta try Viva Restaurant on Phuk Sa-U-Thit Road or just around the corner from there the relaxing atmosphere of the Caf? Europa which has some wonderfully filling meals from Scandinavia. (This was one of Leonardo Di Caprio's favourite restaurants when he lived here during the filming of 'The Beach' movie.) Many of the restaurants near the Ferry Piers to Ko Phi Phi and Koh Lanta also show films whilst you are eating, so if you fancy a night at the pictures and something to eat these will easily accommodate you with excellent food and the very latest films. Whatever your tastes, we'll have something to please you, we have everything here from Indian breakfasts to German Bakeries; you'll never go hungry in Krabi .

Krabi is quite a quiet town but as the day draws to a close a short walk may find you enjoying a beer or two in one of the bars or nightclubs around Issara Road or Maharaj Soi 11, where you can drink, sing, dance and meet new friends until the small hours

Krabi has much to offer the traveler who wishes to spend a little time in this authentic small town.

Ao Nang offers many of the same shopping and eating facilities as Krabi though it is perhaps, a little more familiar to tourists. This resort town has a wide range of shops, many right behind the beach and perfect for those beach essentials that you always seem to have forgotton or just run out of. For more 'serious shopping', about a kilometre out of town, on the way to Haad Nopparattara Beach, is "The Beach Plaza". This is a modern shopping centre perfect for buying electronics and brand name clothing and toiletries. In fact, every imaginable shopping needs is catered for here under one roof, plus a large choice of eating options from Thai rice and noodles to Western fast food, and everything in between.
Food is easily available in Ao Nang itself, outside of the numerous resort restaurants, you will find many small restaurants serving excellent food from the around the world. If it's fresh seafood you're after, Ao Nang specializes in this and has it in abundance with a whole road at the northern end of town selling nothing else, ask the way to the seafood centre as you walk up the beach road, if the smell of the delicious dishes doesn't reach you first.
Ao Nang is also home to many bars where the small hour will be accompanied to the sound of music, both live and recorded. Here the long relaxing beach days can be extended over a quiet drink or if that is what you need, finished with an exhausting whirl of energy in the dancing bars and parties.

Out at Railay Beach the days are meant to be spent lazing on the beach and with the comfort of the resorts and the beauty of the scenery the mind shouldn't need to wander into the world of shopping too much. It is possible to buy essential beach items here at the many mini-marts that serve the resorts, along with some food and toiletries. It is even possible to have a suit made at Sunrise Bungalows and buy rock climbing equipment at King Climbers and Hot Rock climbing schools. But it is food that you don't need to cook yourself that Railay does so well.
For a special occasion a visit to Coco's restaurant on East Railay is a must, the food and atmosphere of this forest restaurant are beyond compare. Equally delicious Thai and Western dishes can be had at equally good prices in the restaurant at Railay Village on West Railay Beach. This restaurant is also famous for its stupidly delicious ice-cream.
Night life moves around the resorts of Railay during the week as each bungalow operation takes it in turns to have a beach party. Don't miss the special atmosphere of a party at Railay Bay or Tonsai Village where the sand of the beach is covered in people drinking and dancing until the sun comes up. One of the newest bars on East Railay also hosts one of the best parties, Viewpoint Bar, though not on the beach, is a large open bar with big balconies where everyone can easily watch the mesmerizing fire-spinners or wince at the preformers who use large pins and broken glass in an act that no-one should try at home!! The music here is also excellent and suits the moods of the seasoned revellers that wait for the sun to rise before heading home. If it is live music that's your thing Ya Ya's bar, also on East Railay, has live bands during the high season, and is a good place to meet people.
